# Prior information notice (PIN)

A prior information notice, or PIN, is a signal published by a buyer that it intends to tender something later, before any contract notice exists. It is not an invitation to bid. Its value to a supplier is time: a PIN can precede the real tender by months, which is long enough to build a partnership or a compliant product configuration.
