# Procurement challenge

A procurement challenge is a formal contest of a public award, on grounds such as an unlawful direct award, a misapplied criterion, an arithmetic error in scoring, or a specification written around one supplier. Challenges run to hard deadlines measured from the award notice, and they succeed or fail on documentary grounds rather than on how unfair the outcome felt.
