Bid bond

A bid bond, or tender guarantee, is a financial instrument a bidder lodges to guarantee it will not withdraw its offer or refuse to sign if it wins. It is usually a bank guarantee for a small percentage of the tender value. Bid bonds are common in African, Middle Eastern and multilateral procurement, and arranging one takes bank time a short deadline may not allow.
