TRINTA vs relying on local partners

For an exporter, a good local partner is worth more than any software: they know the buyer, they can bid in their own name, and in several markets a local entity is a condition of participating at all. What partner-led coverage cannot give you is a view of the market independent of the partner. You see the tenders they choose to bring you, which are the ones they want to bid with you, and not the ones they are bidding with a competitor, the ones they are too busy for, or the ones in the next country where you have no partner yet. TRINTA is the independent view sitting next to the relationship, and used well it makes the partner relationship better rather than replacing it.

What partner-led coverage does well

The honest case for the alternative, made first and made properly.

  • Local presence, which several markets require formally and every market rewards informally.
  • The partner already knows the buyer, the procedure and often the incumbent.
  • They carry the administrative load: registrations, classifications, bonds and language.
  • No cost to you until something is won, which is the cheapest possible coverage.
  • Service and installation obligations after the award are handled by someone with people on the ground.

Where they run out

The specific failures that make companies go looking for something else.

  • You see the subset of the market your partner chooses to show you, and that subset is decided by their priorities and their capacity, not yours.
  • A partner who also represents a competitor decides which principal to bid with, and you will not be told about the tenders that went the other way.
  • Countries where you have no partner yet stay invisible, which is exactly where you would want the earliest warning.
  • You cannot verify the size of the market you are not being shown, so you cannot tell a strong partner from a comfortable one.
  • When the relationship ends, the market knowledge ends with it, because none of it was ever yours.

Rely on your partners instead when

Real advice against the sale. If one of these describes you, this is the better buy and we would rather you made it.

  • Your markets legally require a local entity to bid and your partners already hold those registrations.
  • You have one exclusive, committed distributor per market and the relationship is genuinely working, with a pipeline you can see.
  • Your product needs local installation and service that only the partner can provide, so bidding without them is not real.
  • You are not resourced to bid directly. Monitoring a market you cannot serve produces frustration, not revenue.

Questions

Will monitoring tenders upset my distributors?

It does not have to, and the framing matters: the useful version is bringing your partner opportunities they had not seen rather than checking up on them. Most distributors welcome that, because a principal who arrives with a qualified tender and the documents already read is a principal who makes them money. Partners who react badly to a shared view of the public record are usually telling you something worth knowing.

How do I find a partner in a market I do not sell in yet?

Start from the published record rather than from a trade fair. Award notices name who wins what in that country, which tells you who is already active in your category and who keeps losing to them, and both lists are useful. TRINTA's Partners module tracks local installers and distributors per market for exactly this, and the country pages show where each market publishes.
