Direct answers · How competitive public tenders actually are
What share of UK public contracts receive a single bid?
In the United Kingdom, 10.7% of the 16,033 competed lots awarded through Find a Tender drew exactly one bid from January to September 2026, counted by TRINTA on the bid statistics each award notice publishes in OCDS. The median lot drew 5 bids and the mean 11.3. Awards made without a call for competition, 8,235 lots, are excluded, because one bid is their design. The EU count cannot answer this: TED holds 60 British lots from January to July 2026, because the UK stopped publishing there after Brexit.
