A Buyer-Side Guide to Medical and Industrial Gas Tenders

Medical and industrial gas is one of the most specialised corners of public procurement. Service and maintenance. Many tenders bundle the equipment with a multi-year service contract: planned maintenance, response-time guarantees, spare parts, and operator training.
Industrial gas tenders share much of the engineering (generation, compression, distribution) but serve manufacturing, laboratories, and process industries rather than clinical use, and carry different purity and safety requirements.
The standards that govern the field
Gas tenders live and die on compliance. Buyers should specify, and suppliers must hold, the relevant standards. The detail varies by jurisdiction, but the categories are consistent:
Medical device regulation. Medical gas systems and many of their components are regulated as medical devices, which brings CE marking under the EU Medical Device Regulation, and quality-management certification such as ISO 13485.

What evaluators look for

Buyers who evaluate on lifecycle cost get better value. Suppliers who can demonstrate low lifecycle cost win on more than price.
