Government tenders in Austria: where they are published.
Public procurement in Austria is layered. USP eProcurement carries the national procedures, and 12 regional, state and municipal buyers publish on their own portals beside it. A supplier watching only the national channel sees one layer of the market. Above the EU thresholds, notices from Austria also appear on TED, the Tenders Electronic Daily, which TRINTA reads every day.
The national channels
These are the public, national-level sources: anyone can find them in one search. They carry a large share of the notices, not all of them.
What the EU Official Journal shows for Austria
From January to September 2026 TED, the EU Official Journal, published 4,006 award notices from Austrian buyers. On 490 of the 3,761 that name the winner's country (13.0%) at least one winner is based outside Austria, most often in Germany. 26.0% of the 4,480 lots with a readable bid count drew a single tender; the median lot drew 3.
TED mostly carries what is above the EU thresholds, essentially the top of the Austrian market. Where the bids came from cannot be read: Austrian notices carry the optional origin codes on 15.0% of their lots, too few for a share. The country counted is the one the notice gives for the winning company, so a local subsidiary of a foreign group counts as Austrian.

Search the federal business service portal (USP)
The USP tender search brings together every notice and award notice published under the Federal Procurement Act 2018, free and without registration, refreshed twice a day (around 10:30 and 22:30). The law requires it to: the portal must offer the forms free of charge, unrestricted and searchable (BVergG 2018 § 54(2)).

Know where the notices come from
Austrian buyers publish above and below the EU thresholds by putting metadata on data.gv.at that points to their core-data source, and making the standard form available open, machine-readable and under a free licence (BVergG 2018 § 2 point 23a, §§ 59 and 64). Since 1 October 2026 they do it in the EU eForms standard, new forms in running procedures included (§ 376(6) point 2; Ministry of Justice circular of 18 May 2026). Above the EU thresholds every notice also goes to the EU Publications Office and appears on TED (§ 56). Above the thresholds, awards are published no later than 30 days after the contract is awarded (§ 62).

Check the threshold
The estimated value decides between the EU and the national procedures. Since 1 January 2026 the EU threshold is EUR 140,000 for central government supplies and services, EUR 216,000 for every other buyer and EUR 5,404,000 for works (§ 12; Ministry of Justice circular of 8 January 2026). Below them the national procedures apply, whose limits have been in the act itself since 1 March 2026: the table lists both.

Register on the procedure's e-procurement platform
The USP finds a tender but does not run it: the USP itself says that participation takes place on the tender platform each search result names. That is where the company registers and joins the procedure; at the Federal Procurement Agency (BBG) it is the condition for asking questions and for submitting electronically. Above the thresholds all communication is electronic (§ 48(2)).

Sign, or transmit with equivalent security
Tenders and requests to participate carry a qualified electronic signature, a qualified electronic seal or an official signature, or are transmitted so that the completeness, authenticity and integrity of the data are ensured to a standard comparable with a qualified signature or seal (§ 48(12)); the tender says which applies. A qualified signature from another EU member state counts: eIDAS, Regulation (EU) No 910/2014, recognises it as qualified in every member state (Article 25(3)).

Prove eligibility
A company proves its authorisation with its entry in the professional or trade register of its home country (§ 81(1)) and its suitability, among other ways, with the European Single Procurement Document (§ 80(2)). A firm based in the EEA or Switzerland that needs its professional qualification recognised to work in Austria must start that procedure before the tender deadline (§ 21(1)). Consortia may bid unless the tender excludes them on objective grounds (§ 21(2)).

Submit in German and in euro
Unless the tender documents say otherwise, the tender and everything attached to it is written in German and priced in euro (§ 125(2)), submitted through the procedure's platform before the deadline.

Austria: procurement thresholds in force, 2026. Above EUR 50,000 a direct award still asks the buyer to try for at least three offers or price quotes (§ 46(4)). Until 28 February 2026 the Thresholds Regulation 2025 set the direct award limit at EUR 143,000; it was repealed by Federal Law Gazette I No 8/2026.
